Cairns Regional Gallery is a public art museum/gallery established in Tropical NorthQueensland to foster greater understanding of history, heritage and culture through visual arts and crafts. Opened in 1995, the Gallery is housed in a heritage-listed State Government building which also provides an insight into the history of Cairns. The Gallery is one of Australia’s most innovative regional galleries, with a unique Pacific-Rim identity and a commitment to promoting the visual art of Tropical North Queensland. |
For more than 10 years, the Gallery has documented and presented history, heritage and contemporary culture of the distinctive region of Australia through visual arts, crafts and design.
The Gallery initiates and presents an extensive exhibitions program comprised of up to 30 local, national and international exhibitions each year. These exhibitions provide tourist to the region with a unique insight into Australia and tropical North Queenslands art, history and culture. In addition, the experience is enriched by the opportunity to participate in public programs which offer educational and fun experiences such as artist talks, workshops, guided tours, and social events. |

With a unique Pacific Rim identity and commitment to promoting the visual arts in Far North Queensland, Cairns Regional Gallery provides a unique experience for both locals and visitors to the region. Exquisite Australian made arts, crafts, jewellery, homewares, ceramics, books, cards and prints are available for purchased from the Gallery Shop. Cairns Regional Gallery is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday and from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday and Public Holidays. (Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day & Good Friday) |
