Yungaburra - Cairns Highlands
The Yungaburra Heritage Village, on the Cairns Highlands, is only an easy hours drive from Cairns.
What used to be a place to go off the beaten track has developed into a must see destination in its own right, founded in 1910 this quaint townships has 28 heritage listed buildings , with award winning restaurants and boutique bed and breakfasts to provide an air of luxury and comfort whilst getting away from it all.
Yungaburra provides an excellent starting point from which to begin your expedition of the Atherton Tablelands, now more commonly referred to as The Cairns Highlands, where you will find gentle flowing streams, beautiful untouched rainforests and a reminder of the volcanic past of the region with crater lakes such as Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham.
How to get to Yungaburra
Yungaburra is only a short one hours drive from Cairns. The beautiful and picturesque drive up the Gillies Highway offers a unique perspective of the countryside with stops along the journey to take breathtaking photos of the vistas that are iconic of the region.

The Yungaburra Markets is where visitors and locals can sample the very best fruits and vegetables that the Cairns Highlands has to offer.
Stalls offering a variety of local arts and crafts along with souvenirs intrigue locals and visitors alike. You will find an abundance of organic fruit and vegetables, jewellery, brick-a-brack and clothing.
If you are feeling a little peckish during your visit through the markets rest assured that your taste buds and senses will be tantalised with the aroma of food being prepared and cooked for hungry market goers.
The Yungaburra Markets are held on the 4th Saturday of each month with an exception during December depending on when Christmas falls.
